Amanda Brugel

(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in that part of the island of Montreal known as the West Island. The West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar of its purpose. It is often believed that it's an island to the to the west of Montreal, but it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities in Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is often called her birthplace. But she only was there for a brief time. Brugel grew in Courtice close to Oshawa. She was determined to be a professional dancer, but due to a rapid growth spurt she outgrew the dance partners she had. In an article written by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. Once I was bigger than the size of my male companion and stopped dancing, I quit. Some former dancers switch to acting, and in Brugel's case it was a suggestion from the drama instructor at her high school who encouraged her to go in that direction. The teacher encouraged her to try out for roles in her school's production. The student tried it out, and ended up playing the lead in Anne of Green Gables. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. In the last 20 years, Brugel's roles on television and the big screen have been varied. Her role as Rita from the award winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most notable. Brugel was the sole Canadian actress in Season 1 and only appeared at times.
